Catania, Mahon & Rider, PLLC Growing by Four New Attorneys

The partners of Catania, Mahon & Rider, PLLC, are excited to welcome the following attorneys to our established and growing practice serving the mid-Hudson Valley and beyond:


James S. Arrabito joined Catania, Mahon & Rider, PLLC as an associate in May 2023.  James' practice focuses on all aspects of environmental law, including regulation, diligence, and litigation under New York and New Jersey state and federal law, as well as advising clients with respect to fossil-based and renewable energy projects.

James also has represented clients in obtaining full annual licenses under New Jersey’s Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Act. James has advised clients as to regulatory compliance in the adult-use cannabis market, as well as aided in developing applicants’ Standard Operating Procedures for submission to appropriate regulatory bodies.

Prior to joining CMR, James was an Associate in the Environmental and Cannabis Groups at Chiesa, Shahinian, & Giantomasi, PC and, before that, in the Litigation Group at Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP. James also clerked for the Honorable Justice Jaynee LaVecchia (Ret.), Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court – the State’s highest appellate court. 

James is a 2014 summa cum laude graduate of William Paterson University of New Jersey, a 2017 magna cum laude graduate of Rutgers Law School, and a member of the Order of the Coif as well as Rutgers University Law Review.


Katherine E. Krahulik joined Catania, Mahon & Rider, PLLC as an associate in September 2022. She earned her Juris Doctor (cum laude) from Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in May 2022, and her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with concentrations in Philosophy and Mandarin Chinese from Hofstra University.

While in law school, Katherine was an editor for the Pace International Law Review, interned for the Honorable Philip M. Halpern of the Southern District of New York, and participated as a legal intern in Elisabeth Haub’s Representation in Mediation Clinic. Katherine interned with the Office of the Westchester County Attorney, Appeals Bureau and the New York State Office of the Attorney General.


Adam J. Thomas joined Catania, Mahon & Rider, PLLC in August 2022, after interning with the firm while in law school. Adam earned his Juris Doctor from Pace Law School in May 2022 and received his B.S. in Business Management from Sacred Heart University.

While in law school, Adam served as the Managing Editor for the Pace Law Review and competed in various Appellate Court competitions. In addition, Adam gained intern and externship experience with the New York State Office of the Attorney General, United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, and Barbara C. Salken Criminal Justice Clinic.


Christopher J. Whitton is an accomplished trial lawyer with 30 years of experience representing clients in state and federal court.  He litigates complex medical liability matters on behalf of health care providers and institutions as well as general liability matters defending claims in construction, premises, product, and trucking/transportation industries.  He handles matters from inception through resolution, having secured numerous defense verdicts and favorable settlements for his clients.  Christopher’s successful strategies and responsiveness to his clients’ needs often lead to long-term relationships.


Before joining Catania, Mahon & Rider, Christopher was a partner at a highly regarded New York personal injury defense firm representing various health care professionals and institutions, construction, industrial, trucking, and bus companies as well as local and national premise and business owners.
