Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall, a not-for-profit community hospital with campuses in Newburgh and Cornwall, is dedicated to serving the health care needs of the Hudson Valley and has achieved excellence in the delivery of compassionate and comprehensive health care services. In January 2018, St. Luke’s Cornwall officially became part of the Montefiore Health System to strengthen the delivery of health care locally and enhance access to exceptional specialty care for Hudson Valley residents. In March 2019, the hospital changed its name from St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall.

“I am both grateful and humbled by the Board of Trustees appointment as MSLC’s President and CEO,” Maughan said. “This community is my home, MSLC is my family and I look forward to leading our continued growth to ensure our community has the healthcare it not only needs but deserves.”

Maughan brings more than 25 years of clinical and leadership experience to MSLC. As immediate past President and Chief Operating Officer for MSLC, Maughan was instrumental in MSLC’s transformation from reactive medicine to proactive healthcare management of the populations MSLC is privileged to serve. These transformations include leading the efforts that brought MSLC’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program to fruition, vaccinating more than 20,000 Orange County residents in the first months since inception.

“Dan is a true leader in healthcare. His understanding of healthcare delivery transformation--using modern tools and methods to make sure people get the right care--will be critical to MSLC's growth plan and vision to bring our hospital system and region into the next era,” said Austin DuBois, Chairman of the MSLC Board of Trustees.

Maughan also spearheaded MSLC’s first ever Certification and Designation as a Level III Trauma Center, led MSLC’s response to the Opioid Epidemic, ensuring the community has access to Medication Assisted Treatment, and led the hospital's efforts to secure more than $20 million in grant funding for capital and program enhancements. Funds from the New York State Department of Health were part of the state’s Statewide Healthcare Facility Transformation Program which was necessary to facilitate expansion on both the Newburgh and Cornwall campuses as part of the multi-phased program and is leading the third round of funding in 2022.

Maughan’s vision for 2022 includes the addition of services on the hospital’s Cornwall campus including significant renovations and completion of a new Imaging Suite and pharmacy to support its on-site services, along with increased engagement with the community.
